LEVC VN5
Tested model: Ultima
Applies to: 2020 on, to July 2024
The LEVC VN5 is well equipped with a broad range of safety equipment, some of it standard and some of it optional. While the VN5 lacks some of the more advanced safety features available on some vans, those that it has perform adequately and the VN5 earns a creditable three-star rating. The VN5 is equipped with autonomous emergency braking as standard. The system performed adequately in tests of its reaction to other vehicles, even up to the highest test speeds, and both for AEB and for Forward Collision Warning (FCW). However, the system's performance was rated as marginal in tests of its response to pedestrians and weak in tests of its reaction to cyclists. The system demonstrated some performance in the night-time tests.
The VN5 has a lane departure warning system available as an option. However, the system did not comply with Euro NCAP requirements and was not awarded any points. The speed limit information function uses the camera and a digital map to provide accurate information to the driver about the local speed limit, and the driver-set speed limiter can be set accordingly. The accuracy of the speed limiter met Euro NCAP's requirements.
A seatbelt reminder is standard for driver and passenger. A driver state monitoring system uses lane positioning to identify behaviour which is characteristic of fatigued or impaired driving and advises the driver to rest.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) has not been assessed as part of the current rating.
