Verdict:
The MAN TGL is offered in a variant targeted for use in the city, and scores the maximum 5-star rating with CitySafe award. The MAN TGL has good Direct Vision, supported by the optional Camera Monitoring System (CMS) that provides comprehensive views around the vehicle. The frontal AEB system was good at preventing collisions with both other vehicles and Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs), paired with a high performing Cyclist Nearside Turn Across Path protection system, that does not require an indicator to operate. The only area left for opportunity is Lane Support, which is not offered on the TGL. Overall, the MAN TGL is a safe option for city operators, providing the rated optional safety equipment is purchased.
