Verdict:
The tested IVECO Eurocargo is positioned as a City Distribution vehicle, and it achieved a 2-stars rating. The Direct Vision is adequate – but is surpassed by high-performing long-haul vehicles – and at time of rating, is not available with CMS (Camera Monitoring System) to improve driver visibility. The Driver Attention Assistance System observes directly for signs of driver distraction and fatigue. Assessed collision avoidance technologies available are limited to AEB for front to rear collisions with other vehicles. Its performance was rated as adequate, both when operating with ACC and without. The Eurocargo’s performance is primarily limited by the current absence of VRU-focused collision avoidance systems. As a vehicle intended for City Distribution, detection and intervention for pedestrians and cyclists represents the most significant opportunity for safety improvement. Because of this, the Eurocargo is better suited to use outside the city, such as on the highway, where its current ADAS technology can support the driver.
