Verdict:
The Isuzu F-Series is offered in a variant that is suitable for the City Distribution sector, and is the first Isuzu truck that Euro NCAP has evaluated. The F-Series earned 2-stars and no CitySafe Award. The Direct Vision is very good, in part due to its narrow cab and proximity of the driver to the front of the vehicle. No Camera Monitoring System (CMS) was offered on the F-Series to enhance visibility around the vehicle. The AEB system has coverage of both vehicles and Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs). The system performed adequately in truck-to-vehicle scenarios both with and without ACC, but only marginally with VRUs – a key area of improvement. The F-Series does not offer a system that can protect cyclists in a nearside turn scenario, nor a Lane Support Function for highway use outside the city. Overall, the very good Direct Vision is not supported by robust AEB systems to protect vulnerable road users in cities, which suggests it is better suited to highway usage.
